CSSD tracking from the washer to the patient
Caresoft OTMS tracks each instrument set through wash, pack, steriliser load and release, records chemical and biological indicator results, and stamps a sterility expiry. Sets are issued to a case by scanning. If a biological indicator fails later, the whole load is recalled and every case that used it is flagged.
What you get
- Set master with barcode codes and instrument counts
- Steam, ETO and plasma loads with CI and BI results
- Expired or non-sterile sets cannot be issued
- Short instrument count on return quarantines the set
- Incision blocked until the required set type is issued
Safety steps it enforces
Start the incision before the WHO Time-Out is complete
Time-Out is a required step. The "Start surgery" button stays locked until every item is ticked.
Close a case when the swab count does not match
Initial, closing and final counts are compared item by item. A mismatch blocks completion.
Wheel the next patient into an OT that is still being cleaned
The cleaning interval runs after every case. Patient-in is locked until cleaning is signed off.
Questions
What happens if a biological indicator fails after sets are used?
Mark the BI as failed on the load. OTMS quarantines all sets still in stock from that load and shows an infection-control alert on every case that used one, with patient details for follow-up.
Can a procedure require a specific instrument set?
Yes. Set the required set type on the procedure, for example "Laparoscopy set". Incision stays locked until a sterile set of that type from a passed load is issued to the case.
